The Best Zoom Backgrounds in Greater Evansville

Amusing murals

Murals have been popping up all over Greater Evansville. You can find them all on a self-guided selfie tour using the mural map. Some pay homage to what we love about home and some are just interesting works of art, but they’re all beautiful enough to be Zoom backgrounds. 

The mural at R’z Cafe in Fort Branch was created in 2019 by Gibson County native turned California artist, Drew Cooper, who has worked with major brands like Adidas and Mountain Dew. It’s now one of the most popular photo ops in Greater Evansville.

If you’ve driven down the Lloyd Expressway, you’ve probably caught a glimpse of the North Main Street Gateway Mural. This was one of the first pops of urban art in Evansville. It was created by Brazilian artist Artur Silva and symbolizes the momentum and future of the Jacobsville neighborhood. 

Use Zoom to send virtual postcards to friends, family, and coworkers you haven’t seen since the spring. The Greetings from Evansville and Greetings from Mount Vernon murals look like classic postcards featuring all the things we love about these great cities. To find these murals, head to 318 Main Street in Evansville or 321 N. Main Street in Mount Vernon. 

A new kind of coworker

One of the joys of working from home is spending more time with your pets. But even if you don’t have any, you can still get some furry friends to make surprise appearances on your next video call. 

Mesker Park Zoo is one of the most scenic spots in Evansville, with Lake Victoria centered among the rolling hills, not to mention the exotic exhibits like the Botanical Garden. While you’ve probably seen plenty of your co-worker’s dog, wouldn’t it be something to be zoom-bombed by Clementine the giraffe? Check out our Mesker Park Zoo photos to find your new furry friend. 

River Kitty Cat Cafe checks all the boxes, too. It’s a great local coffee shop with a funky mural and the home to a few felines waiting to be your friend. All the cats are adoptable through the Vanderburgh County Humane Society. This is definitely the cat’s meow of Zoom hangouts in Greater Evansville.

Storied scenes

Around here, we have a few tales as old as time - or at least as old as Southern Indiana. A lot of our local history is known nationally and true Greater Evansville champions never tire of telling the stories behind the landmarks, buildings, and sites throughout our region. 

New Harmony, Indiana is full of unique sites like the Roofless Church, Atheneum, and Cathedral Labyrinth as well as many other buildings born out of its utopian past. It's one of the most scene and historic cities in Greater Evansville and definitely a conversation starter if your office isn't familiar with your remote work location of choice.

Even though you can't go out to the ballpark this year, you can still virtually show your support for your favorite hometown team and historic Bosse Field. This place is on every baseball fan's bucket list. Bosse Field is the third-oldest operating ballpark in the country behind Fenway Park and Wrigley Field and starred in the classic sports movie A League of Their Own.
