Holiday Happenings

Ritzy’s Fantasy of Lights

A 27-year tradition in the tri-state, Garvin Park is once again aglow with over 60 light displays that can be safely viewed from your car. If you haven’t been in a few years, it’s worth driving the one mile route. Over half of the displays have been updated with sparkling LED lights for the 2020 season.

Dates: Through New Year's Day

Admission: Up to 6 people: $7

7-14 people: $10

15 or more: $25

Christmas in New Harmony

You might feel like you’ve stepped into your favorite Christmas movie when you arrive in New Harmony. The historic streets are dressed in holiday style and the stores are ready to help you safely shop for everyone on your list. Many even offer online shopping and curbside pick-up.

Downtown Evansville Decor Tour

Tour the holiday decor from your car or park and walk the streets of Downtown Evansville. The wall of lights installed at 217 Main Street has quickly become a favorite photo op and it’s right in the midst of popular places to dine and shop. Don’t forget to strike a pose in front of the selfie murals in Self.e Alley and tag us on Instagram at #eisforeveryone.

The Doggone Great Outdoors

Cardio for Canines

You may be home for the holidays, but some four-legged friends aren’t so lucky. That’s why every Saturday morning, the Vanderburgh Humane Society invites people in the community to walk shelter dogs in Garvin Park. You can also check out Mutt’s Morning Out, a program that allows you to take a shelter dog for a two hour adventure during the week.

Warrick Tails on Trails

The Warrick Humane Society hosts a similar event on Saturdays in Newburgh. Register for Tails on Trails at shelter and take a furry friend on a walk or run on the new trail that connects Friedman Park and Vann Road Park.

Both events happen year round but can be weather permitting. It’s best to call or check online before you leave.

First Day Hike

Kick off 2021 with some time in the great outdoors. Angel Mounds State Historic Site is hosting a guided hike through wooded trails on New Year's Day. Registration is required by December 30th. You can also schedule outdoor tours for up to 10 people Wednesday-Friday.

Admission: Non-member adults: $7

Non-member children: $2

Come Here for the Beer

Haynie’s Corner Brewing Co.

Knowledge is power at local brewery Haynie’s Corner Brewing Co. They also offer in-person and virtual trivia every Thursday and often have pop-up food truck events throughout the week. Seasonally, they also hosted spirited team sports like kickball and dart league. Check their Facebook page for up-to-date details.

Jennings Street Public House

If you’re looking for a new place to catch-up with old friends, you can’t miss Jennings Street Public House in Newburgh. Specializing in craft beer and scratch cocktails, you’ll want to visit multiple times to sample their rotating list of signature drinks. Bring your own food or catch one of their pop-up food truck nights, which are typically announced on their Facebook page.

Myriad Brewing Company

Grab some local beer before you hit the road. Myriad Brewing Company just released 4-pack cans of their popular Golden Ratio IPA. You can also get a growler to go or sit and sip a pint. Stop by on one of their food truck nights to make an evening of it. Even better, catch their next doughnuts and drafts, a popular once-a-month pop-up event featuring pastries and beer at 8:30am.

Carson’s Brewery

Caron’s hosts a lot of weekly events, so there’s always a reason to visit when you’re in town. Coming up are the annual New Year's Eve Bash and an open mic night, both socially distanced events with limited capacity in the brewery. You can also grab a growler or some cans to go.
