Here’s where you can go for a walk, run or bike ride.
Wesselman Woods
At Wesselman Woods, you’ll find the largest tract of virgin, old-growth forest within any city limits in the United States. Within the preserve and landmark are 12 different trails totaling over 4 miles. While bikes are a great eco-friendly way to travel to Wesselman Woods, they are not allowed on their trails and can be parked and locked at the provided bike racks. Pets also are not permitted inside the preserve.

University of Southern Indiana
The University of Southern Indiana boasts many miles of multi-use trails on its scenic 1,400-acre campus. The most recent is the USI-Burdette Trail, completed in 2012. The 3 mile scenic trail is perfect for hikers, bicyclists and runners, and connects a picturesque park with the beauty of the college campus.
The Greenway Passage
The Greenway Passage is nearly 7 miles of 10-foot wide paved trails that wind through downtown Evansville with views of Pigeon Creek and the Ohio River. The passage connects neighborhoods, parks, business districts and nature areas.
Harmonie State Park
Harmonie State Park is located 25 miles northwest of Evansville and is a trail lover’s paradise with trails for walking, biking, mountain biking and nature hikes. It’s known for its deep ravines, towering old growth forest, and abundant wildlife, and is made up of 3,465 acres.
Scales Lake Park
Scales Lake Park in Warrick County is a 66-acre lake with a vast selection of outdoor activities, including mountain biking trails for every level of cyclist.
Angel Mounds State Historic Site
Angel Mounds State Historic Site is one of the best-preserved, pre-contact Native American sites in North America. Twelve earthen mounds, built for ceremonial and residential purposes, are scattered throughout grounds encompassing nearly 100 acres. The site also includes the incredible Angel Mounds Loop Trail which spans roughly four miles and will lead you to an unexpected slice of archaeological history and stunning scenery.
The Rivertown Trail
The Rivertown Trail is a multi-use greenway that extends from Angel Mounds State Historic Site to the new Locks & Dam Park along the Ohio River Scenic Byway. It travels right through the heart of downtown Newburgh along its riverfront, with restaurants and coffee shops along the way.
Audubon State Park
Audubon State Park provides 6.5 miles of trails that wind through the nature preserve and vary in difficulty and length. The Eagle Glen Pet Trail is a one-mile trail where dogs on leashes are allowed with their owners.
